Brief History

The Department of Mathematics was established during the academic year 1979-80 with B.Sc. MPC group with Telugu as the medium of instruction. Later, B.Sc. MPCs (Computer Science) group was introduced during the academic year 2009-10. The Department of Mathematics was added another feather with the introduction of B.Sc. MPC with English as the medium of instruction. Now, the Department caters to all the groups of Mathematics i.e. B.Sc. MPC (TM & EM) and B.Sc. MPCs. The Department was headed by Sri. N. Munaswamy Naidu, one of the stalwarts in the region in Mathematics, when the Department came into existence. Now, Dr. C. Narasimha Reddy, Lecturer in Mathematics and V.Swapna, Guest Faculty are working in the Department.

Vision

To centre stage Mathematical knowledge in the curriculum; instill analytical and logical thinking among students and promote mathematical thought as an important area of human thought.

Mission

·         To introduce the fundamentals of Mathematics to students and strengthen the student’s logical and analytical ability.

·         To conduct outreach programs for the socially marginalized students.

·         To encourage students to conduct student projects to develop their analytical and logical thinking.

·         To inculcate in students the ability to apply mathematical and computational skills to model, formulate and solve real life problems.
