About the Department

The Department of Political Science began with the founding of the College in 1978-79, as one of its earliest departments, originally part of the B.A. (HEP) group taught in Telugu and English medium with a starting strength of 80 students. Its built-up area is about 200 sq.ft.

A Brief History

Smt. K. Anjali Devi was appointed the Department’s first lecturer. Several dedicated lecturers served over the years, including Sri K. Guruswamy Pillai, Sri T. Dhananjaya and Sri A. Nageswara Rao. The Department has two sanctioned posts; Dr. M. Bhaskar Raju, Assistant Professor, is currently on record there.

The programme covers Political Theory, Indian Government and Politics, Indian and Western Political Thought, Public Administration, International Relations, Indian Foreign Policy and Contemporary Global Issues — a foundation for further study in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Law, or Journalism & Mass Communication. Career paths include teaching, law, media, policy analysis, civil services and competitive examinations including the UPSC.
