Institutional Distinctiveness
Historically and traditionally, quality assurance organisations have had two functions:
- The enhancement of the quality of institutions, and
- Programmes for the accountability of the results of teaching and learning.
Keeping these two objectives in view, the Motto, Vision and Mission of the College are framed as follows.
Motto
“Krishi To Nasthi Durbhiksham”
“Hard work prevents impoverishment”
Drawing inspiration from this ideal, the College has set “Krishi To Nasthi Durbhiksham” as its prime motto.
Vision
To impart quality education to predominantly rural and backward students, transforming them into wise citizens with sound minds and physical strength, and with character and commitment towards social, cultural and ethical values.
Mission
- To provide need-based and skill-oriented education to the students.
- To expose the students to the latest knowledge through the use of ICT-enabled technology.
- To instil the spirit of nationalism and secularism among the students.
- To enhance competitive skills and talents.
- To motivate students towards community service.
- To promote ethical values and concern for the environment.
- To develop sportsman spirit through games and sports events.
The enhancement function is executed primarily in systems of high trust, while the accountability function is developed to prevent the decline of institutional quality and to protect the beneficiaries — students and society.
The College has over four decades of expertise in educational excellence, offering courses across diverse disciplines. It provides students a well-rounded educational and career foundation — not only preparing competent professionals, but instilling commitment to ethics, diversity, public interest and social justice. Faculty across all departments work towards continual improvement in areas such as:
- Achieving sports medals
- Games
- Academic goals
Teachers and students at the institution share a close working relationship built on mutual understanding of goals and needs.
Teachers are known for these qualities
- Well qualified
- Dedicated and venerable
- Well trained
- Accustomed to the vision and mission of the institution
As a Government institution, teaching and non-teaching staff are transferred to other Government colleges periodically. Even so, incoming faculty consistently accustom themselves to the institution’s culture of dedication and service.
The institution takes pride in over forty years of service to the community without blemish from either the teacher or student community — a distinctive hallmark of the College. Bilingual students are given preference for admission into the English Medium.
Students are known for these qualities
- Humility
- Modesty and honesty
- Determination towards the institution’s vision
Even coming from a rural background, students at GDC Nagari develop strong character and internal discipline, and take pride and confidence in being students of this College.
Om sahanaavavathu – sahanoubhunakthu
Sahaveeryam – karavaavahai
Tejasvinavadheethamasthu
Maavidvishaavahai
The purport of this shanti mantra is:
Let us live together – let us rejoice together
Let us acquire knowledge together
Let our education become dynamic
Let hatred not divide us
Living out these words, in letter and spirit, by both teachers and students, is the distinctiveness and unique feature of this educational institution.
